Working with Starvision

How to work with Starvision?

A typical project starts with basic project information, followed by solution recommendation, quotation, deposit payment, technical drawing confirmation, production, shipment planning and installation support.

For an accurate quotation, the most useful information includes project location, application scenario, product type, screen size, quantity, installation method, CMS requirement and delivery destination. Based on this information, Starvision can recommend a suitable LCD, LED or street furniture solution. After the deposit is received, our engineers prepare technical drawings, usually within around 3–4 days. Final dimension drawings are sent for confirmation before production starts. During production, photos or videos can be shared to update the manufacturing progress. Around one week before shipment, Starvision can provide a reference freight cost. Shipment can be arranged by Starvision or by the customer’s own forwarder. Before delivery, the balance payment is completed, and the goods can be shipped smoothly.

CHOOSING OUTDOOR DIGITAL TOTEMS

What factors matter most when selecting an Outdoor Digital Totem?

For Outdoor Digital Totem projects, the real outdoor operating environment is usually more important than screen size and initial purchase price alone.

Outdoor Digital Totems need to operate under sunlight, high temperature, rain, dust, humidity, UV exposure and possible vandalism. In coastal areas, salt mist and corrosion resistance can also become important. If the enclosure, cooling system, waterproofing and anti-corrosion design are not suitable for the location, a lower initial purchase price may result in higher long-term maintenance costs.

  • Sunlight readability
  • Heat dissipation
  • Ventilation design
  • UV resistance
  • Waterproofing
  • Dust protection
  • Salt-mist resistance
  • Vandal resistance
  • Maintenance access
  • Power stability
  • Remote monitoring
  • Long-term maintenance cost

How to choose between Outdoor LCD Totem and Outdoor LED Totem?

Outdoor LCD Totems are generally more suitable for close viewing distance and fine image quality. Outdoor LED Totems are generally more suitable for long-distance visibility, larger display size and stronger visual impact.

Outdoor LCD Totems are often used for pedestrian-level advertising, shopping mall entrances, airport areas, metro entrances and locations where image detail is important. Outdoor LED Totems are often used for roadside DOOH, city centres, public squares and high-traffic locations where brightness, impact and viewing distance are more important. The best configuration depends on viewing distance, screen size, brightness requirement, installation environment, maintenance access and long-term operation cost.

  • Viewing distance
  • Screen size
  • Brightness requirement
  • Pixel pitch
  • Image detail requirement
  • Installation location
  • Budget
  • Maintenance access
  • Long-term operation cost
OUTDOOR RELIABILITY

Why is heat dissipation important for outdoor digital signage?

Heat dissipation is important because high temperature can reduce display stability, shorten component lifespan and increase maintenance risk.

Outdoor digital signage often works under direct sunlight and high ambient temperature. If the enclosure does not have a suitable cooling and ventilation design, the screen, power supplies, fans, controllers and other components may operate under excessive heat. This can create black screens, brightness reduction, component failure or frequent maintenance.

  • Ambient temperature
  • Solar radiation
  • Screen brightness
  • Internal airflow
  • Fan control
  • Component layout
  • Temperature protection
  • Maintenance access
OUTDOOR RELIABILITY

Do Outdoor Digital Totems need salt-mist protection?

Outdoor Digital Totems may need salt-mist protection when installed in coastal cities or high-corrosion environments.

Salt mist can accelerate corrosion on metal enclosures, screws, hinges, locks and other exposed components. For coastal projects, the enclosure material, surface treatment, coating process, fasteners and sealing design are usually reviewed before production.

  • Installation distance from the sea
  • Humidity
  • Material selection
  • Powder coating quality
  • Stainless steel fasteners
  • Sealing design
  • Maintenance plan

OUTDOOR RELIABILITY

How can vandal resistance be considered in outdoor display design?

Vandal resistance is usually considered through glass selection, enclosure strength, locking design, installation method and maintenance access.

Outdoor media equipment may face impact, forced opening, scratching or misuse in public spaces. For high-risk locations, the design can include laminated glass, stronger metal enclosure, secure locks, protected fasteners, stable foundation and appropriate maintenance access. The final structure depends on the location and the expected risk level.

  • Laminated glass
  • Metal enclosure strength
  • Secure locks
  • Protected fasteners
  • Stable foundation
  • Access control
  • Maintenance method

OUTDOOR LED TOTEM

Is a brighter Outdoor LED Totem always better?

No. A brighter Outdoor LED Totem is not always better. Brightness is important, but contrast, black level, reflection control, viewing angle and automatic brightness adjustment also affect readability.

For outdoor DOOH displays, high brightness helps visibility under sunlight. However, excessive brightness can increase power consumption, heat, glare and night-time discomfort. In many premium DOOH locations, a display with better contrast can look clearer and more refined than a display that is only extremely bright. Starvision can use high-contrast LED solutions, including MIP LED options, to improve image clarity, black consistency and visual quality in outdoor environments.

  • Brightness
  • Contrast ratio
  • Black level
  • LED package type
  • Surface reflection
  • Viewing angle
  • Ambient light
  • Auto brightness control
  • Power consumption
  • Heat management

OUTDOOR LED TOTEM

What is the advantage of MIP LED for outdoor DOOH displays?

MIP LED can help improve image quality, black consistency and contrast, which are important for premium outdoor DOOH applications.

For outdoor LED displays, the final visual effect is not only about brightness. Contrast, black level, uniformity and surface reflection also affect how premium the content looks. MIP LED options can be considered for high-end DOOH locations where image quality and contrast are important.

  • Higher contrast potential
  • Better black consistency
  • Improved image clarity
  • Premium visual quality
  • Suitable for high-end DOOH locations

OUTDOOR LED TOTEM

What pixel pitch is suitable for an Outdoor LED Totem?

The suitable pixel pitch depends on viewing distance, screen size, content type and budget.

A smaller pixel pitch provides finer image detail and is more suitable for closer viewing. A larger pixel pitch can be more cost-effective for longer viewing distances. For roadside or public-space DOOH, pixel pitch is usually selected together with brightness, contrast, viewing distance and installation height.

  • Viewing distance
  • Screen size
  • Content detail
  • Installation height
  • Budget
  • Maintenance method

OUTDOOR LCD TOTEM

Why is AR glass important for Outdoor LCD Totems?

AR glass helps reduce reflection and improve readability for Outdoor LCD Totems in bright environments.

In outdoor environments, normal glass can reflect sunlight, buildings, cars and pedestrians. Strong reflection reduces advertising visibility even if the LCD screen has high brightness. AR glass can improve visual clarity and make the screen look more premium in sunny locations.

  • Reflection control
  • Sunlight readability
  • Image clarity
  • Viewing comfort
  • Premium appearance

OUTDOOR LCD TOTEM

What brightness is required for an Outdoor LCD Totem?

The required brightness depends on sunlight exposure, installation direction, glass type and the local outdoor environment.

Outdoor LCD Totems usually need high-brightness LCD screens. However, brightness is best selected together with glass reflection control, cooling design and automatic brightness adjustment. Higher brightness may also create more heat, so the cooling system is normally reviewed at the same time.

  • Sunlight exposure
  • Installation direction
  • Glass type
  • Screen size
  • Cooling design
  • Auto brightness control
